Closer to You --> December 30 (Sunday)

Hello from Albuquerque!!! Well, yeeah, that’s where I am. I’m wearing a T-SHIRT! It’s exciting! Hahaa…wow.

Today has been…ok I guess. It’s just been a lot of driving. Buut, that’s really no different than any other day out of the past few, soo, it didn’t really need to be stated. Whatever I guess…

We woke up before the sun this morning, around 7:30am. The breakfast the hotel offered was continental, the same as any other, only they had really really good pastry thingies…and I had a few. :) We left the hotel around 8:30, and drove for awhile. I didn’t sleep this morning, which I think I’m gonna regret…buut, it’s ok cause we have our own room tonight as kids, so we kind of can do whatever we want. :)

At like 10:00 we crossed the border from Oklahoma into the nothing-ness land of the Texas Panhandle…all cows, no people. Haha, it’s not completely true, but pretty darn close. About 10:45 we stopped in Groom, TX. That was the exact same place that we stopped on the way in, only we got DQ on the way in, and gas on the way out. This place, Groom, literally has three buildings, and one exit…it was soo small. :D

We had a nearly 3 hour break in Amarillo, Texas. Lunch at Chili’s --> :-P <-- and, then we went to Target cause Trenton wanted to buy an iPod, which he got. =) He literally didn’t stop talking about it from the time we left IL until the point where he got it… So, he was really happy, and the technology in this little thing is amazingg…Apple keeps getting better and better. =) We also stopped in at Borders to see if we could get a book on tape, but they didn’t have it. Instead, we go this book called ‘Little- Known Facts about Well-Known Things.’ It has random facts like this one: “At the state’s widest point, the distance across Texas is greater than the distance between New York City and Chicago.” Which randomly relates…here’s another one: “Marvin Gardens is the only property on the Monopoly game board that is not named after a street. In actuality, it is an upscale area in Atlantic City, NJ, which, had it been spelled correctly, should have been Marven Gardens.” Haha, the book is really cool; I liked it a lot :)

We left Amarillo about 2:00; all we saw were more cows, old barns, and vast land. Around 2:40 we entered New Mexico!! It was basically the same as Texas…flat lands, buut, there was a sense of accomplishment of reaching yet another state. We are now only one state away from Arizona…that word nearly seems foreign now…buut, it won’t be for long. :)

Soo, yeeah, we drove for awhile. Annd, we reached Tucumcari, which didn’t really mean anything, except that that’s where we stayed on our first night on the way here. We drove past it, though, cause we were headed for Albuquerque.

We beat the sun to Albuquerque (once again) and won the race. At about 6:00 we checked into the hotel, and then we went to my mom’s friend’s house. This was the part of the day that I looked forward the most too. Why? Because I got to meet a girl named Eliana! Hahaa, I was sooo excited to meet her…but she wasn’t really excited to meet me. She was only 9…but still, it’s pretty exciting. Whatever, we hung out in their Jacuzzi, and ate pizza, so that was fun. :D

We came back home about 8:30 and I took a shower. Now it’s like 10ish and we are all asleep….we’re sooo tired. Well, goodnight…I’m leaving Albuquerque and coming to AZ tomorrow! <3!!

Chasing Cars --> December 29 (Saturday

Saturday. That's today. We (the kids) were (apparently) supposed to wake up on our own this morning while my parents were at breakfast, but it didn't happen, so we were really rushed out of the hotel room, and somehow that was our (the kids) fault. Soo, we didn't really get to do anything in the hotel but get ready, and that was a bummer, because yesterday we were able to watch TV and stuff.

We got on the road about 9:30 from Rolla, MO. I slept for the first two hours of the trip. We stopped at a rest stop at 11:30ish and ran around a little bit. Then about 12:30 we stopped for lunch at Schlotzky's…I think it
was the first time I've been there since August. I lovee Schlotzky's!

Around 2:00ish we stopped at a 'snack stop,' which was really a few extra lanes to the right of the freeway with a terrible bathroom. There we found an insurance postcard sent to a guy named Dawn Kunkel…I think he was from Venita, OK…buut, no matter what, we had fun trying to say his name. Then we tried to get back on the road, which was really hard cause there was not an 'entrance lane,' and the semis were going 2534983mph. Buut, we made it. J When we left the 'snack shop' we were about two and a half hours away from Weatherford, OK, where our hotel is for the night.

Trenton and I got really bored about 3:00ish and decided to start singing to Christian…only we were stinging two completely different songs, and C didn't really like it all that much…

About 4:00, we stopped for gas, and I got food from McDonalds – A McFlurry, and fries. The best food ever. Annd, I got a Oklahoma shot glass…cause my other one broke. Now I think I have like 30 total. (The only problem is that about half of them are from California :)

Now it's about 5:00 and we are at the hotel. It isn't dark yet…which is probably a record; we've never reached any hotel before dark on this trip. The hotel doesn't have a Jacuzzi thing…just a pool. Soo, I'm kind of bummed, but I'll probably end up swimming anyway.

This day hasn't been that long, just a lot of driving. We've been chasing cars and racing semi's all day, but we've made it, and we are halfway through our journey home…and that's a happy thought. :D

All In All -- December 27-28 (Thurs & Fri)

All In All --> It’s Just Another Day Gone

Soo, I’m writing about yesterday today, because yesterday I was entirely too tired to write. But, in order for yesterday to make entire sense, I must start with the day before yesterday; Thursday.

On Thursday morning I woke up at 6:30, which was too early to wake up…ever. Soo, I woke up, took a shower, ate breakfast. We all got to work by 7:30. I packed up my room the rest of the way…which pretty much meant ‘get everything out of the room.’ Things like boxes, computer parts and pieces, pillows, blankets, bags…ohhh and the bed that had to go across the hall. After that I went downstairs and cleaned out the van. It was a mess. There were still needles from the Christmas tree, jelly beans from our Minnesota trip back in October, and packaging from the normal commute from Naperville to Geneva. It took me a short time to get all of the trash out and a long time to vacuum the van, but it happened, and it was perfectly clean. I liked it a lot.

Then, around 3:00ish we left the house and went to the first hotel; Geneva, IL. We all rested and watched TV, and we just really had a good rest. Hmm…that was an interesting description. Anywayy, then we went to my grandparent’s house and had a pot roast and a corn and fruit salad…the food was amazing. After that we went back to the hotel where we met our cousins and went swimming! It was a lot of fun, and we just got to hang out. They also brought us a wonderful gift. J First, they gave us a bunch of road snacks…and then they also gave us a bunch of cards. We open a card every 100 miles we go, and in each one is a favorite memory that they had with us. It was a really good idea, and it’s soo fun!! I think that we all fell asleep about midnight that night.

On Friday morning, we woke up at 7:00am and packed up our room. We then got on the road. I literally slept the first 3 hours of the trip, when we reached Springfield, IL. In Springfield we went and saw Abraham Lincoln’s house. It was really interesting…buut that’s not where we wanted to be. We (apparently) wanted to be at the Presidential Library…so, that’s where we went. It was really interesting too, and the exhibit was really well done…it was actually quite amazing.

Soo…after that we got back on the road and drove for the remaining three hours of the trip and arrived at the hotel in Rolla, MO about 8. We order Dominoes pizza (sooo amazingly yummy!!!) annd, then we went swimming…it was…exciting. Kind of, ohh, yeeah, it was! We played Marco Polo, and hung out in the not-so-exciting Jacuzzi.

Hmm, we all fell asleep about midnight again.

Christmas :)

On Christmas Eve...day, Christmas Eve day, we did soo much work and so much packing and cooking and cleaning and rearranging. It was hectic. We got TONS done, and nearly the entire downstairs is almost ready to be stuck into a Uhaul...buut not quite.

Then all of my cousins and my grandparents came to Naperville and we went the St Peter & Paul 4:00 mass. That was hectic. There were 40 bazillion people there, and we ended up standing in the overflow room. Haha, it was good though.

Thenn, after that, everyone came over to our house and we had about 3 hours of a Christmas party! It was totally tons of fun. We all got to hang out and talk with each other. We also had a massive wrapping-paper-ball-war. That was fun. :) Annd, we had really amazing bean & corn burritos. Mmmm!!

Finally, they all left about ten-to-eight, which let us go to GracePointe's Christmas Eve service! That was fun cause I got to see a bunch of people...again, and it made things not so sad.

Early this morning Trenton woke us all up and we went downstairs and opened presents and stuff. I got a wallet (!) which was all I really wanted, and made me happy. :D

Then, this afternoon we went to my cousins house and met their (
other) cousins, and pretty much just had a HUGE party. It was tons of fun, we got to play a lot of football, and we watched the Suns game....and we had a lot of really good food. It was tons of fun to meet everyone else, and get to know them a little bit better. I loved it. :)

That's all for the 'Christmas' part...in terms of moving, we are close to being ready. Tomorrow at like 8ish my dad is picking up the Uhaul, and we are working all day to pack it up. Wow...crazyness :D

Week of December 17th

Thiss week...it's been crazy!! Like there has been soo much going on, and yeeah.

On Monday~ I got to sleep in!! It was wonderful!! Haha, I didn't change into my real clothes until like 7pm when I had to go grocery shopping with my dad. It had just snowed and the sun was reflecting off of the snow, I loved it.

On Tuesday~ We went to see my great-grandmother's grave. It was cold outside, and there was snow covering all off the grave stones. We searched around for like 20 minutes looking for it, and then I realized that there was a row number for the grave...from there it took us like 10 minutes to find it. Soo, we remembered my great-grandmother, and we prayed and stuff. It was very good to do that, but it was soo cold! Haha, I didn't wear the right shoes or anything (Cause I didn't think we'd be walking around in 6in deep snow) After we were there, we tried to eat at the IHOP down the street, but it was closed. Soo, we drove back home and I had a few classes to be at (online) so I was, and that was a lot of fun. :)

On Wednesday~ We got our water heater fixed and went to the Holocaust Museum. Our water heater had been broken for quite a while, so the 'guys' were here all day fixing it. While they were here, we went to the Holocaust Museum. It was ok, it was smallish, and I didn't love it, buut, it was really interesting, and informative. When we got back, the 'guys' were still here, and the house smelled soo bad!! So, my mom and I went Christmas shopping, and got out of the house. I got double-stuffed Oreos...my favorite. :)

On Thursday~ We...uhmm, ohh, we put school stuff in boxes and I had my last 180 (church) of the night. Soo, yeeah, I also did laundry all day, and got all of the clothes in the house washed. We packed up 2 1/2 boxes of school stuff and books, and those are now sitting in the living room off to the side. I had my last Thursday night church thing also. A few of us met at a Mexican place for dinner and talked. At church, we hung out and kind of played basketball and dodgeball, and stuff, but more just hung out and talked. :) It was tons of fun.

On Friday~ Packing clothes and surprise parties. We packed up our clothes...lots of them. Soo,yeeah, we did that, and otherwise just cleaned the house. Then, at like 6:15ish I went to go help set up a surprise party for a friend of mine who was turning 18! It was soo much fun, and I was able to hang out with a bunch of friends from church. We all had a really good time, and Nate was really surprised. It was awesome.

On Saturday~ More packing, MSI, & Greek Town. Soo, we had to wake up early. It was like 8:30, but it was early for a Saturday. We kept packing up the house, most of the upstairs, and all of our clothes are now packed...and most of the rooms are packed too. All of the boxes are stacked up in my parents room --> [they'll be moved into a Uhaul truck on...Wednesday] Then, around 10:30 we left for downtown Chicago. As a big (my dad's parents, sister -- all her kids, in all like 13 people) we went to the Museum of Science and Industry to the Star Wars exhibit. It was really cool to see, and it was awesome to hang out with all of my cousins and stuff. From there, we went to the Parthenon (lots and lots of Greek food) and ate dinner. The food was pretty good, I'm not all that into Greek food, soo, yeeah. When we left the restaurant, it was blowing and snowing, and crazy cold. Haha, yeeah.

Saturday night~ Was crazy enough to get its own spot. Ha! Soo, I went to bed about 11ish...at that point, the wind was picking up, and it was pouring rain. It was about 35-40 degrees outside probably. Then, throughout the night, it kept getting colder, and the wind was literally making noise. (k, that kind of sounds stupid, but like the house felt like it was being blown around, and the tree was shaking)

Sunday~ Sad day...with lots of wind and snow. So, yeeah, I woke up this morning and the wind was still crazy. It was also snowing...but really lightly. We got in the car to what would be the last day of church in IL. It was sad to think about. We [Nicole, Lindsay & I] spent awhile after church talking, and crying, and planning on how I was gonna come out. It was good to have that time. Buut, it was also really sad. :[ Now my parents are going to get my grandmother from the train station and she is gonna come over and help make everything for tomorrow night. (Cause for some crazy reason we are having Christmas Eve here...) Annd, the wind is really crazy (still) and there is soo much snow too! Soo, it looks like a little mini blizzard outside. It's crazy!! Buut, I love it. :)

Week of December 9th

I finished school this week!!! It was sooo wonderful to be done!! Buut, that's pretty much ALL I did. I am soo stinking happy to be DONE!!

Hahah...soo, yeeah, that's what I did for most of the week, buut, on Thursday, I went and shadowed a friend at the HS down the street!!! (Naperville North) We had soo much funn!!! Haha, I am TERRIBLE at volleyball!! I didn't ever hit the ball right, and people kept telling me I was 'this close' to doing it the right way...but I never got it 'perfect.' Haha, it was amazing :) The day was overall WAYYY awesome!! I was soo happy to hang out with her, and I wasn't at home!!!
On Friday I FINSHED SCHOOLL!!! I spent 3282345342 hours on the two finals, but it was happy thing to get over with.

Thenn!! I had an 'ornament Christmas party' with the 'freshman girls' which was actually a 'goodbye party for me' with 'all of my friends from church!!!' It was soo amazingly awesome!!
We have soo many memories from that night!! I totally enjoyed it!! And I was totally surprised by it!! I got an amazing picture from Nicole from Halloween. Annd, we got TONSS of amazing pictures that night.

Yeeup, that's it for now!!!

Annnd, now I'm all done catching up!!!!

Week of December 2nd, 2007

First week of December...wow, one more month to go, crazyness.

First off...my grandparents left on Sunday, and we had church, which was tonss of fun. :)

This week was pretty exciting, but also really crazy cause I was finishing up school. I took two finals, and that was uhh...not cool, but ok I guess. Otherwise...I was pushing to do the rest of the stuff that I hadn't done, and it was all really stupidd...

On Wednesday, we went to go see Wicked!!! It was a really amazing performance, and...everything about it was awesome. As we walked into the Chicago Oriental, it was snowing, and the lights were dim, and I really loved it.

On the L-train back, we rode in the Santa Car...it was SOO awesome!!! There were elf ladies, and decorations for Christmas, and there was SANTA (i know him!!!!) and we got candy canes!!! It was amazing!!!

That night we went to hang out with friends, and we had really yummy pizza :)

On Friday night we went SLEDDING!!! Ooh, it was soo cold, but I WAY loved it!!!

Week of November 25th

Grandma & Grandaddy...Billy Grahm...Babysitting...Video Scavenger Hunt...Crown Pointe...

My grandparents came into town this week!!! I had soo much fun with them!! They came in on Tuesday. We spent the night with them, showing them Naperville and we got yummy food. On Wednesday we drove to Michigan. [Cars.are.not.my.favorite.At all.] Anyyway, we got the chance to see where my grandmother grew up, and meet her sister and stuff like that. We also went to like 242849839 cemeteries...or like two, but it was still alot :) I really enjoyed it. We then drove home, and I was pretty much done being in a car for that day.

On Thursday we went to the Billy Graham museum and got to tour Wheaton. That was tons of fun!!

On Friday I finished up school for the week. That night, I had a Video Scavenger Hunt with church. I totally loveddd it!!! Our team managed to win $15 girftcards to Jamba...and spend half of the time we had at the hunt at Starbucks. Mmm....love Starbucks. We did some pretty amazing stuff...at one point we had to do a thing where someone would fall and claim 'I've fallen and I can't get up!' This was probably the best cause the girl who did it was crazy!! She got the whole entire restaurant (Noodles) to stare at her :) I loved it :)

Thenn, on Fridayy (!) I got to babysitt!!!! It was soo much fun!! (And apparently the moms were really excited that I was there) Buut, yeeah, I hadn't babysat in a really long time, and all of the kids were just plain precious. I loved it :)

Finally, on Saturday, the whole family [including my grandparents] drove into CrownePoint, Indiana to meet more relatives...it was actually a lot of fun cause we had really good food. THen we went into an old fashioned mall, and we got a clock, a necklace, candy...and more candy. We also got to see SANTA! [I KNOW HIM!!] Thatt was pretty exciting. After that we turned around and drove backk home...it was a lonnggg ride.

Ohh, and on the ride home my brothers and I were all random. Sooo, I typed it all up, and it is hilarious to read it :D

Week of November 18th, 2007

T's birthday...Thanksgiving...screen door...snow...hhahahahaha

Trenton's birthday was on TUESDAY!! I made this really cool scavenger hunt for him all over downtown Chicago. We went from French (our last class!!) to lunch, to Water Tower Place, to the beach (And oooh mann it was really cold, but we went in the water, and I loved it :D) and then from there we went to the Drake Hotel, which was really old and really cool. He loved it.

After our really cool scavenger hunt, we went on a boat cruise down the river. It was miserable! I was soo cold, and it was raining and it was soo cold. Goodness...haha, it wasn't worth our money. We were cold, and wet. And the train ride home wasn't that warm either. :/

Then, on Wednesday (!) we went and hung out with my cousins house!! We were all sitting there in the living room, and all of the sudden, I see SNOW!!! Goodness, I was soo amazingly excited. Soo, I like jump up and run over to the door. And in the meantime, my uncle jumped up as well and went to turn on the light. Everything was blanketed in snoww, and it was so pretty. Soo, he goes to open the door, and as he is reaching for the screen door, I ran through it. It was hilarious! I was laughing soo hard, and I was crying, and I was likeee...yeeah, all over the place. It was amazing.

On Thursday (Thanksgiving) we went to my grandparents house, and really enjoyed it. We weren't there for a long time, but ew had dinner, and we just kind of hung out. I loved it.

On Friday, I got to go driving. I loved it. I was ok at it...haha, not amazing, but I liked it.

On Saturday we drove up to Whitewater, WI to see North Central College play Whitewhater in the D3 finals. Hahah, NCC got crushed, but it was still fun to see!!!! I had some really good hot chocolate...and a not so good pretzel, but I got to hang out with Maddie and stuff...it was tons of fun!!

Week of November 11th

This week on Wednesday, my dad went to MN, and we were on our own. It was pretty exciting, cause like we didn't have to do anything big or anything, and that was nice. He came home on Thursday night, just in time to pick me up from church. Annd, church was fun, like it always is. :)

On Friday I skipped out of school (kind of not really...sort of maybe) and we went to the Fermilab. [Pronounced Fair-mee-lab] It was...uhhh...ok. It was kind of boring, there was a lot of intense science information. I didn't really understand much of it, but it was ok. They had this really cool thing where you raced a ball around a pole (k, it sounds really stupid, but it was fun). What else was there?? Uhhmmm, they had bison. I loved it. We went and saw them :)

Annd, on Saturday, was my parents anniversary. We did a lot of family stuff. And we saw my grandparents, and that was a good time. :)

This week wasn't really exciting... :D

Week of Novermber 4th, 2007

The beginning of this week was boring. There was nothing much going on, until we drove through Indiana to Ohio...and then Kentucky...with my grandparents. Hahaha, I had tons of school to do before we left on Friday, so I really tried to work hard.

And then came Friday. We drove ALLL stinking day [there were seven of us, and I was sooo bored...and bummed about being in a car.] We stayed at a really cool hotel, but there were people in the pool, and I was exhausted...so we didn't really swim that much. Then, on Saturday, we got up fairly early and drove into Ohio. We dropped my grandparents off at their friends house, and we headed to the Creation Museum.

The Creation Museum was really amazing, but there were lonnggg lines, with a lott of people...and I was sadd. So, that was tons of fun, and after that we went back into our own hotel [without my grandparents] and we got to hang out with ourselves...

The next morning we woke up and went to have lunch at my grandparents friends house. It was really yummy :) Annd, from there we drove to see my cousin at Dayton. Yeeah, that was fun too.

Annd, after that, we went to the 3rd hotel we've had..in 3 nights. We got to swim, and be warm there, and then we went to bed.

Earrlly Monday morning, we woke up and got on the road. Early. Buut, then we got home, and we were home. And, that was good, I was so ready to be done from being in the car. I hated it...

Week of October 28th, 2007

Week of October 28th, 2007
This week was tons of fun!!
My mom came home on Sunday!!! It was really exciting!! My bros and I were all out carving the 30 pumpkins we bought, and all of the sudden...the knife slipped and I sliced my finger. Oops. :) Hahaha, soo, we spent 3 hours in the ER, and I got a bandaid. It took forever to get better, and I have a cool scar now.

My brother's birthday was on the 30th, so our Tuesday was different. We went downtown normally and did French class. Buut then, Trenton and I rode home on the train on our own and Christian and my parents had a special dinner thing. Anyway, the train was really fun to take, just the two of us. And then, we got a taxi driver. Annd, the taxi driver claimed that he didn't know where he was going, and I had to tell him where to go exactly. The only thing is that I said this, "Take a right up here, and go down to Ogden." Annd the taxi driver turned left. Okay, and then I didn't know what to do, but then he kept going, and I found the house finally...but it was really funny, he didn't listen to me. And then I had to pay him more then I should have. Hehehe...it was good though.

Annnd...then on Wednesday!!! It was halloween!!! Soo, I went with two friends from church and had possibly the best time of my life. Yeeah, I really enjoyed myself. I got 206 pieces of candy, and like 7 really big candy bars. Soo, I loved halloween...it wasn't even that cold out. :D

On Saturday, we went to the Morton Arborteum and froze. Buut, we took some really pretty pictures as well. There was this tour thing that was a lot of fun to do buut, it was really cold the whole time, and we didn't dress warmly enough.
That's all for that week!! It was tons of funn!!!

Hmm...

It's been awhile since I've written, and I really want to catch up on everything. Soo, I'm going to do my best. :)

Week of October 22, 2007
Not tons happend this week. We went to this really cool place called Starved Rock that actually had an interesting background on it. Apparently during a war some time ago, the French marched a bunch of indians up on top of this rock and starved them. It was really cool :) Annd, there was a lot of hiking, and then it started raining. I liked it. :D
Ohhh, and on the way to the Starved Rock we stopped by this really cool chocolate candy shop. We bought like $30 in chocolate...it was amazing. Haha...they had Chocolate covered Carmel Popcorn...I loved it.
And then we went to this thing called Naper Settlement on Friday. It was all about the history of Naperville, and had real houses. I liked it. :) Heheh
Annd, finally, on Friday night, we went on a boat cruise!! I got the chance to drive a boat!!! It was really amazing!!! Annnd, yeeah, I totally enjoyed it! Buut, by the end we freezing!!
Then, on Saturday night, I had the chance to go to a corn maze with a bunch of people from church. We literally wandered around for like 3 hours in the coldness. Buut, I made really good friends that I have just become better friends with now. :D
Soo, that's it for this week. I'll write more for the 'next week' soon!!!
<3!

Tuesday's Are Down Town Days...

...And they always have been, but today was really fun.

We had French, which was kind of fun, but also a bummer cause I'm 'getting' it a lot faster than my brothers and I kind of get bored :D

So we got done with that a we went to McDonalds. I had barely been to McDonalds before I came here...buut things change. So, my mom wanted to spend 15 dollars on lunch instead of 50 at the museum (understandable) So, we got McDonalds. So, there are doing the Monopoly thing right now, and we had like 6 of the little pieces. Soo, there was a group of people next to us were collecting them, and my mom was like, 'hey, we should give these to them.' (In my head I was thinking, "If we keep coming to McDonalds like we have been, we'll probably win the whole game.) Anyway, so she handed the pieces to the a person from the group who then was like, 'ohh, thank you so much!' and the other people in the group were like, 'what, your giving those to her, you should have given them to me...' It was all in good spirit of course. Anyway, so there was a lot of shuffling around and stuff, and my brother turns to me and says, 'Today: French, McDonalds, Slagle-caused Riot. What else is going to be interesting today?' Haha, so, we kind of, almost (not really) caused a riot at McDonalds.

After we left McDonalds, we walked back across the street and went down the stairs to the Red Line where we got our tickets and boarded the subway system. It was all done very fast though, because we were running down the stairs while the tram was waiting for us...which is something that it very rarely does. So, we got aboard it, took it to the Adler Planetarium.

The planetarium was very interesting, it was kind of boring, almost like an art museum...there was a lot to look at, a lot to read, and we had to be kind of quiet. We saw a really cool movie about Black Holes, it was realy cool until I kind of fell asleep cause I didn't all the way understand what it was saying. And then we went to this planets exibit that showed us the sun in real time, and what the planets look like in comparison to eachother...it was more interesting than the movie. Annd, my lifelong dream has been fullfilled, I found out that I weigh 147lbs and I'm 24 years old on Saturn. I can die now. :p

So, then they had an exibit with the Little Einsteins and weather...Christian and I had a lot of fun acting like we were 4 again and chasing eachother around the floor.

Hehe, well, I think that's all for now!

More Later!

~Eliana

On My Way Home

October 7, 2007 3:30pm

Haha, guess what? I’m driving…again.

So, yes, here I am, driving again. But, this time, it’s back to Naperville, my home there, J Well, where do I start, I could go backwards from this point, or I could go forwards from Friday...(That randomly reminds me of the fact that my family is terrible at making decisions. Terrible. We were sitting at Chili’s today, and my brother couldn’t decide whether he wanted Country Fried Steak or Honey BBQ Sirloin…that’s only one instance of it, but it happens all the time, and it’s kind of annoying. :s

So, I’ll start from Friday. My brothers and I finally got to go see where my dad works! Haha, we kind of just had the idea that he worked from his office and maybe talked with people in another state…hehe, yeah, so we saw his office and we met his boss and his assistant person, it was so fun to be there! Annd, I think that a lot of office would be this way, but it had and extremely strong resemblance, for me, of The Office. I don’t know why, but they always seemed to be laughing and joking with each other and complaining…hehe, it was fun! And then, I got to do school! Hahah, I know that that seems like I’m crazy, but I was way behind…so, I did like 3 hours of work while my mom took my brothers to the library or something. It was a happy thing. Then my dad and I said our goodbyes, (and I stumbled through ‘good-to-meet-you’s’) as well got directions for to the Mall of America, or MOA as it addressed itself. (We either had to go under the 77 exit, or get off on it…I don’t know what we did cause my mom had us get off on 2c.)

We traveled down the almost bumper to bumper highway at decreasing speeds, but we eventually got there. And, we walked right through the actual ‘mall’ part of the building into . Haha, so I was kind of bummed that we didn’t do any shopping or anything of the sort, just RIDES! HA! They were so much fun though! The ‘park’ wasn’t that busy, and that allowed us to not have to wait for the rides for more than 10 minutes. That was nice. J So, that was about it for the MOA. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and it was overall tons of fun!!

So, that’s Friday, on to Saturday. Saturday was a lot of fun too! We woke up about 9:00 and went to have breakfast with the family that we are staying with. Pancakes! They were so good! Thenn, as Saturday-day was a lot warmer than Thursday night, we went back out on the lake! This time I tried water-skiing, I pretty much got up, but it wasn’t perfect…so, yes, I can say that I actually went water-skiing, it just didn’t go very well. J Hehe, I had a great time, and the sun felt so good! After we went out in the boat we went back home and played guitar hero for awhile…I beat Christian which was fairly amazing…and tons of fun. J Then we went and played kickball before we had amazing pizza. And then, because all the sudden there were like 10 kids, we played a bunch of night games, and met this girl named Clara. (She and I didn’t really play that many games, we more talked when we were supposed to be playing…the other kids got kind of mad at us) That was it for Saturday…

And today, Sunday, after we packed up the house we went to church with the family that we were with. And then to lunch at Chili’s…and now we are on the road. I think that we have about three hours left, and I’m pretty bored. Hehe. There has been a lot rain and wind while we are driving, and my mom keeps asking me if we have our seat belts on. Ohh, and the trees are beautiful!! They are orange and red and gold and dark violet, it’s amazing!! And then there are a few that are green…those aren’t as pretty. J I’m thinking that’s it for now!!

I miss you all!

PS...On My Way Home is actually a song...idk who it's by though. :)

Amazing Days, Amazing Ways

So, I had the most amazing day yesterday! We woke up at 8:00 (like normal) and we went to St. Paul to the amazing science center that they had! We stayed there pretty much all day! We saw how the enzymes in your mouth break down the food you eat; how tornadoes form, how sound and light interact with each other, ooh, and sooo much more! Hmm, we saw a tug boat, directed a barge down the Mississippi River (in a simulation), saw tons of different dead animals, we saw the Pompeii exhibit (which was pretty cool…) did a bunch of weird math activities with this one guy from Bolivia, and, we saw a really cool movie about Greece that got really old about 40 minutes into it…but then it was over. Hehe, I probably could have stayed at the museum all day, but, we had to get back to the amazing house that we are staying in. I’ll get to the house in a second…

Buut, we had to get back to the house because we were going WATER SKIING!!! Ohh. My. Gosh. Have you ever been water skiing at 7:00pm at night? In October? In Minnesota? Hehe, I was SO cold, and almost miserable, but it was TONS of fun!! We tried this knee-boarding thing, and I almost got up on it. I tried two different times, and I was equally cold in each. Hehe, I LOVED it though. Trenton managed to get up, and Christian didn’t. J It was fun though. After that we went and took HOT showers, so hot that all of the hot water ran out. And then we went and had amazing food at the people-who-took-us-water skiing’s-house. It was fun. And they have two really sweet girls, and I loved being with them!

Ohh, and the house is amazingly nice! It backs up to the lake where we went water skiing, and it is so much more spatial then our Illinois house…go figure. That’s actually about it, they are selling it, so it’s all clean (and it’s our job to keep it that way :s)

That’s about it! I am going to the Mall of America today, but I’ll write more once it happens!

Crazy Long, and Adventurous, Day

October 3, 2007 7:50pm

Driving…again.

This has had to be the longest day ever. (Or since I was driving across the country…from AZ to IL) Anyway, no I’m driving (again) from Illinois, through Wisconsin, to Minnesota. New Prague, to be exact. We are going to be staying on Cedar Lake, in a fairly nice house. It’s going to be amazing, once we get there of course. For now, I’m ready to be done. We’ve been driving from about noon today, not straight though…this is our day:

12:00pm – We finally left the house. We left about an hour later than we wanted to, but we didn’t really have that choice as my dad had to work all morning.

12:45 – We stopped for lunch at the ‘Oasis’ on the freeway. I love Panda! (That was actually the same place that we got ourselves lost at when we went to the football game)

2:00 – We stopped at the Jelly Belly factory! We walked in, received our Jelly Belly hats and were hurried along through the ‘Jelly Bean hallway’ to the train that was waiting. The tour was somewhat boring, all it talked about was how much sugar they use everyday. (I don’t remember how much, but it was some extreme number.) So, we got our free jelly beans, and were escorted to (where else) the gift shop! Haha, so, we wandered around, and walked out with 45 dollars worth of jelly beans. J That was a happy thing! Hehe

4:00 – We went to an indoor rest stop. Haha, I don’t know why I find that so fascinating, but, we don’t have indoor rest stops in AZ or CA, cause it never gets cold enough. J We played football for a few minutes and then got back in the car…

That was also the same place that we realized we had taken the wrong route and we were going up towards the cities instead of where we were supposed to be. Soo, we turned ourselves around and then turned off onto a more scenic route that led us through the way cute town of Black River Falls. It was about an hour out of our way…but I think that it was worth it. J

7:30 – We finally got dinner!! Rushing through Wendy’s, we got chicken nuggets and salads and frosties and waters…and we got back in the car again. J

And now…we are in St. Charles, MN, about an hour and 10 minutes away from where we are going! I guess the day hasn’t been that terrible, just long. Annd, this week is going to be pretty exciting! With water skiing, the Mall of America…and, the Science Museum, I’m way happy for it!!

Well, that’s all!!

More later…and I’ll post pictures too!

The Wind & the Rain in OCTOBER!!!

IT'S THE FIRST DAY OF OCTOBER!!!! I'm soo happy about it! Mostly because it means two things: 1) I am one month closer to coming home!!! 2) I made it through one month...so I can do at least one more. (Ha, I don't really have a choice about the 3 months...)

And, last night, I fell asleep about 10:00ish...I was SOO tired!!
Then, about midnight, I hear this crazy WHOOOSHING noise up against my window, and I'm soo confused and turned around (and half asleep) that I hit my head on the wet window sill. It was RAINING soo hard outside. And the rain was being blown about by the WIND. You could seriously hear the house resisting the wind, and it felt like the house was going to fall to the ground when the wind stopped blowing. I preceded to close my window and fall back into bed, but you could still hear everything blowing and pushing and pulling...and the house groaning under the weight of the wind. It was wonderful. Today has been somewhat dreary, cloudy skies, no sun. The temperature has been nice though, pretty much perfect. Our big maple tree out front is the only one in the neighborhood that hasn't begun to turn yet, (we secretly think that the landlords poisoned it...probably not though) Soo...that kind of a bummer, but it's ok...I'm sure that it will change!

More Later!!

Zooboomafoo

Hahah, that's on TV right now...I totally remember watching it when I was like 4...wow. :p

So, we got this badminton set the other day. It is so much fun! But...it doesn't really help when you aren't amazing at it. :) Hehe, I'm ok at it, but my brothers don't really think so. We were playing last ngiht, and my brothers kicked me out of playing the game! I was bummed with them...but, they don't have anyone else to play with, haha, so they have to play with me!

And then...uhh, we are going to Minnesota on Wednesday for like 5 days. We are going water skiing, and to the Mall of America, and to a Pompeii exibit at the science museum. I'm thinking that it's gonna be way exciting and fun!!

I went to an amazing rival football game on Friday night, haha, Naperville North vs. Naperville Central. It was soo amazing, and we were in the dog pound with a bunch of people. It was a lot of fun, and I got to talk with people, and be friends. (Even though I'll probably never see them
again:) Annd, then we went to an amazing noodle place for dinner, I liked it a lot. :D

Well, that's about it for now!!
I'll post again soon, to make up for my lack of not posting in a couple weeks. Heheh...

I'm done now.

Happy (extremely late) Birthday to Me!

Liiffeee...is going pretty great!

My birthday: We went to the Sandwich Fair where I: 1)Got sneezed on by a sheep. 2)Nearly got sick because I went on some way sweet/too crazy rides. 3)Ate some AMAZING food...like cotton candy...and funnel cake...and yah, that was pretty much the extent of the AMAZING food. Then we went back to my grandparents house and ate...then I went to bed. Haha, I was tired!

Then...on Wednesday we went to Downtown Chicago (again...haha) and signed up for French lessons...not too sure how that'll go. Especially cause my brothers & I are the only ones in the class...hmmm. Wow. And then we went to the HERSHEY'S FACTORY!!!! How cool is that? It was definitely more of a store, but it had good chocolate. :D HA! Then we went to the American Girl Place...I love that place. We went and checked everything out...and it was soo cool. I could probably live there. We read the Smart Girls Guide To Boys, my brothers and I...it was hilarious-ly awkward. But, it was also a ton of fun! Ohh man...then we went to the Nike store, but it wasn't as much fun as American Girl. It was almost kind of boring. Then we rode the Navy Pier Ferris wheel, and almost got sick, but not quite. It was fun!

Hmm...this is gonna be really long. So, I went to the Oak Park River Forest vs Lyons TownShip (something like that) football game last night! It was way sweet! And cold...very cold. But, it was a white-out theme, so i was in white everything, and it was a lot of fun!!!!!!! It took FOREVER to get there because we went like 3 1/2 miles past the right exit to get Panda, and then we kind of went the wrong way, and saw a really pretty lake, attempted to talk to an elderly woman who...'was sleeping,' nearly hit a possum/dog/deer-type thing, and got to the game an hour late, so we didn't have to pay. Haha, it was amazing. Aannd, I met a bunch of Maddie's friends, who were pretty cool.

Then, tonight, we are going to a North Central College football game (NCC is a smaller college right down the street from us). And tomorrow we are probably gonna go to church, then my cousins soccer game, and then a 'family get together.' I think we're gonna watch the second half of the Bears game, and probably play a football game too...idk what else.

Oooh...and it's REALLY cold here. Not quite like terrible, but I am definitely in long pants and a heavy sweater right now. And my feet are ALWAYS cold...I probably need to get warmer socks. But, I don't have any socks cause my brothers think that it's ok to use mine. Ughh...

Mkay, that's all for now!

Chicago

Hey Everyone!
It's been awhile since I've written anything. In the past few days, we've just finished putting the house together, and making it our own. It was really hot earlier this week, but then, it rained all day Thursday and Friday! It's been soo wonderful!!!

So, yesterday, I went to downtown Chicago again. We walked around in the rain!!!! It was soo much fun! My brothers & I took the train down there, and we went with a few friends again. So, we were kind of wet from the rain, and then we went and played in this really cool fountain! Haha, we were soaked by the time we got done there.

And, finally, my birthday is tomorrow!!!! We are going to church (FINALLY!!!) and then we are going to the Sandwich Country Fair. (Sandwich is a town, not a food in this case) And...I guess that there is a demolition derby...so we'll be going to that. It'll be interesting, haha, wow. Then we'll probably go back to my aunts house for dinner and a party! Yeah!!

Well, that's all for now!!
Much Love!

My Heart Will Go On

Hola! So, the main reason for the song title was that that was what was playing in the car on the way back from downtown Chicago. AND, it reminded me of when I was in Mexico with SBC, and Ryan happened to play that song for a certain someone...I won't go into detail, but it was on the second to last night when we were in Colonial Greco (I think). I went with a new found friend, Maddie (her and my dad are friends), to Chicago with a few of her friends today. It was SO much fun! We went to the Shedd Aquarium, and then wanderered around looking for a Panda Express. Anyway, it was a lot of fun! I saw a lot of eels and turtles and sharks, got my face painted, almost got hit by a car, walked away from the group (I wasn't quite with it...) but, it was an adventure!

There' s not really anything else to talk about...ohh, the neighbors. I still haven't met anyone. I was gone most of the day, but I was just out on the porch and no one talked to me. Haha, I'm going to meet someone eventually! It is so wonderfully nice outside! But, there are a lot of mosquitoes because they have had a TON of rain in the past few weeks. Hopefully they'll go away sometime soon.

Mkay, I think that that's all, this was a short blog!

Sweet Home [Illinois]

I'M HERE! Haha, it's been a great three days in the car, but I'm SO happy to be in Illinois. The house is...small. I really think that it is cute and quaint though too. The upstairs is where the three bedrooms and the one shower are, and the downstairs is where the living room, kitchen/dining room and entry room are. It's overall very nice. The backyard is overgrown, but will look good when it is taken care of. The wierd thing here is that there are no tall brick walls that signify privacy or ownership, only short decorative wooden fences, if anything, to show the property line. I think that it is very interesting...but, for people here, it is normal. I'll probably get pictures up eventually of everything, our home computer is up and running...but the internet isn't connecting.

My room is really cool...I have really cool magenta/dark brown sheets, and then I have a desk in here too. I'm sleeping on a futon, so it folds up into a couch...which I really like.

So, that's probably all that you want to hear about the house and my room...it's probably really boring. I don't know if there is much more for me to talk about...

Wait, (haha) so we went to downtown Naperville today. It was soo cool, there were people everywhere, it wasn't too hot for anything, and they had a COOKIE DOUGH shop!!!!!!!! It sold solely cookie dough and ice cream. And, the best part is that you can EAT the cookie dough RAW! Ohh man, I can walk there, and I'm gonna be there often!! We also had some of the most AMAZING pizza! I guess that if you are in the Chicago area/vicinity, the pizza is gonna be good! So, it was really cool to see all of that. OHH, and we saw a wedding, it was the most beautiful weddding that I've ever seen (we just walked by, so it wasn't like we attended it or anything) But, it was pretty.

Last thing...I tried to meet some of the neighbors today, but my method of sitting on top of the Uhaul and seeing if they would come to me...let's just say that it didn't work. So, we have to go get the bearded dragons (that the family who's house we are staying in own, but a neighbor was taking care of them) from one of the neighbors tomorrow, so I'll meet someone but then I might just go back to the Uhaul, and see if anyone comes to talk. Supposedly there are a lot of little kids here, but I've seen a lot of people my age...so I'm excited to get to know people. \

Mkay, that's all for now!!!

Meet Me in St. Louis

4:15 Central 2:15 AZ

St. Louis is a beautiful city! With the Gateway Arch stretching above everything and the Mississippi River flowing swiftly between Illinois and Missouri, I think that it is amazing! We wanted to go up in the arch. (Umm, actually, my family wanted to go, I didn’t want to have anything to do with going up that high.)Anyway, there was too long of a wait to get up there, so it didn’t work out. But, we did get to go into the museums and see a quick movie about the making of the arch. I thought that it was pretty cool.

Now we have just crossed into Illinois, and we have about four hours of driving to go. We are going through Springfield, so that will be fun. I really like going to the capitals of states…I don’t know why. Anyway, there are cornfields EVERYWHERE! (haha, kind of like the cows the other day) They are stretching from the road to a barn and a silo somewhere, and then they’ll keep going past the barn. It’s soo cool. And, where there aren’t barns and cornfields there are thick bursts of trees! I’ll post pictures eventually. (You know, you can probably tell that I’m from AZ and that I’ve never really been in the real country or lived out of the state by how excited I am by things that probably seem real miniscule.)

So we got off from Springfield, MO today around 10:00 (CST, you can figure out AZ time) and then I slept for nearly two hours on the ground of the car! Haha, it was wonderful! But, then Christian woke me up by pulling the cell phone from my pocket…and then he was really hyper and continued to bug me and Trenton. Ohh man, I’m way happy that this car ride is almost over!

Well, that’s all for now!

Wide Open Spaces [Pt 2]

1:30pm~Texas Time (11:30 AZ time) August 31, 2007

Driving Across the Texas Panhandle

I think that Texas people are uhh…grumpy. So we are driving across the Texas Panhandle right now. We left Tucumcari, NM around 10:00am (New Mexico time, so 9:00 AZ time). Texas, at least this part, is interesting. There are loonnnggg spans of grass to our left and right, and you can see where the vast blue sky dotted with puffy white clouds meets the open plains. The rolling sea of green is speckled with black and brown cows. EVERYWHERE. It’s actually really cool! You just see them grazing lazily acting like they own the place. (They probably do).

Anyway, we stopped in Groom, Texas. (AKA, middle of nowhere) We ate lunch at a DQ where three ladies well into or past their 60s served us. It was a little community diner, but I don’t know where the community lives because there are hardly any houses. (maybe they are invisible or underground or something) It was cute and all, but the ladies were grumpy and either didn’t like us (because we didn’t have accents and we probably acted like we were from the ‘upscale’ west…maybe they have a grudge on us or something, I don’t know. Do we even act a certain way?) Or maybe they just didn’t want to work in the middle of nowhere with each other. In conclusion, they weren’t very happy or anything…so we didn’t get the best impression of them.

Last night we got into Tucumcari about 1:30am (their time...12:30am AZ time) and it took us awhile to get to sleep. Of course, I got the privilege to sleep on the super uncomfortable sleeper-sofa. It was bad, and I was really sad about it. Mostly because I couldn’t necessarily sleep on the thing…it was a bummer. But, now I’m tired, and there is really nothing to do in the car with two people sleeping, not the best music playing, and no internet. So, I’ll probably sleep. But first I’m gonna read the rest of the selection from my biology book, and the probably my art book too. I’m way behind in those two, and I think that there are due dates with the school, but I don’t really know. Better to be safe than sorry.

Wide Open Spaces...Dixie Chicks..again

Wide Open Spaces

Driving in the Middle of Nowhere: 4:30pm

So, we got off from Scottsdale, AZ at about 12:30. According to my Grammy, that was only ‘30 minutes later than planned.’ Umm…not so, we really wanted to get out about 9:30. But, if my Grammy is happy, then I think that I am too.

So, we are driving up to St. Johns, AZ (who knew there was such a thing) from Show Low. We are surrounded by rolling hills with little bushes spread throughout. The sky is a brilliant blue with great puffy white clouds crowding the sky. It is so beautiful and looks like something that you would see on either a nature show or in a painting. I took a few pictures that I’ll post when I get a chance…probably sometime next week.

We are driving up to St. Johns because we somehow managed to miss the turn up to Holbrook and we went to Show Low instead. We are seriously just all messed up in everything, it’s kind of funny. So this detour is going to end up being the same as if we didn’t mess anything up. You could almost go with the, ‘if it didn’t happen it was never close’ phrase…

Ohh…I didn’t mention what happened with the van. My dad used the wrong key…he got a new one from Home Depot recently and he tried to use it. But it didn’t have the right computer chip in it; therefore, the van would just shut off when we tried to make it move. So, there was nothing wrong with the van’s fuel pump or anything else, it was the computer chip that didn’t make it into the key.

Haha, I think that it is just so ironic and almost funny the way things have happened. (with the van, with making the wrong turn)

Mkay, that's all for now! More tomorrow!

God Has a Plan for Me in Chicago

So, my brother just came in the room and started singing God has a plan for me in Chicago, so that's pretty much where the title of this blog came from. (if you were wondering...and it's not a real song, Trenton just made it up off the bat.)

So, I want that to be true for me too, I'm not doubting it at all, it's gonna be a great experience...I just have to keep telling myself that, and once I get there, it will be, but for now, it's just hard and sad.

But, church was AMAZING tonight, Kenna got me this really cute little cactus (it's fake), but it's seriously amazing. And I got to talk with everyone (in my group) for awhile, and it was just a lot of fun...but then I went to Impact to say goodbye to Julie & JT, but they had already left...and that made me WAY sad. Cause I totally told them that I was going to see them...but my mom came late, and it just didn't work out...I'm sad about that, because it's gonna be four months before I see them again. Haha, but I did get to see Aryana, which was pretty special, cause I didn't think that I was going to see her!

Ohh, and our van broke down (that would be the vehicle that will get us to Illinois)...haha, it's in the shop, so we are hoping to get it by noon tomorrow, otherwise we are going to have to reroute our trip and stop in different places and redo our hotel reservations. And the thing is that we have a full 9 hours of driving tomorrow. So, if you put the 9 hours of driving, a stop for food, and the fact that there are 3 boys in the car, it's gonna take about 10 1/2 hours...so if we leave at noon, we'll get to the hotel late.

But, my room is all packed up, so I can wake up at 7:00 to help pack up the Uhaul, and seal all the boxes in my room up, and then go over to my grandparents for breakfast at 8:00, and then I can sleep until the van is ready for us...or work on school. I really need to work on school, so that's a dilemma. Oh well...

Mkay, I'm pretty sure that that's all for now! I'll probably write more tomorrow about our trip to Tucumkari, New Mexico.

Love you all and always,
Eliana

P.S. Haha, I signed my name in Webdings! That's cool!

So...It's the Start of Something New

Haha, so this really is the start of something new. Maybe I'll keep that up (like song titles for blog titles), haha, I don't know. Well, I am leaving for Illinois in a week from today (It's August 23rd) and...it's crazy. This blog will be for everything that we do in Illinois, how it happens, and yah, a lot of stuff like that.

Right now, we are packing up our house, and like I have nothing in my drawers, except for 1, and that has a lot of shirts in it. My mom said that I need to get rid of those, but I don't really want to...ughh, I have to do that.

Soo, that's it for now! You all should tell people about this blog, just so they know.
